Dreams come true! I've always wanted to dine at the restaurant right by "Pirates of the Caribbean" since I was a little girl, but I never got a chance to do it. And I stopped going to Disneyland for a long time. I think the last time I was at Disneyland was more than 5 years ago. Since my sister is a big Disney fan and was in town, we decided to go there with her this time :) We had a great time there, and there was definitely the magical spirit at Disneyland which I thought was lacking at my last visit. The FANTASMIC show was amazing with all the special effects including film projected on water, fiber optics and lasers, and the fireworks for the 50th anniversary "Remember... Dreams Come True" was impressive as well (although, they had to stop the show in the middle of climax due to high wind...). At least we saw Tinker Bell fly from the Matterhorn to the Castle which was fun.
Dine in experience at Blue Bayou was really cool. There is no place like this where creates interesting atmosphere and food is excellent considering we are at a theme park. It's so dark inside that everything seems almost ghost like, and you see all the riders go by... We are in the same room, but it creates weird distance between them. It's definitely a place to go at least once when you are at Disneyland! We will be going back there for sure!
They have a simple and pretty basic menu. A place like this always seem to do better with most standard signature dishes instead of complicated ones. My husband & my sister ordered "Five Pepper Roasted Prime Rib of Beef", and I ended up ordering "Royal Street Seafood Jambalaya" with king crab, gulf shrimp, and mahi mahi. I'm definitely going with there prime rib next time! The prime rib was awesome!!! The meat was so tender and cooked right. And we enjoyed all the side dishes that came with our entrees as well.
During the high season, the tip for making reservations at "Blue Bayou" when you first get to the park doesn't seem to work. There were so many people trying to make the reservations in front of us, but the restaurant was completely booked for the day. So.. instead, we decided to ask when would be the good time to check in for the walk-ins. They recommended us to come by at 3 pm. So, we came back at 3 pm, and we were able to get in within 5 minutes and sat right by the water! ...maybe we were just really lucky this time :) It was little too early for supper, but we didn't mind it at all.
If anyone knows any other recommended dishes here, please let me know :)
