This is another nerdy topic, but Paul had read about this show in WIRED magazine and saw a banner on IMdB... so we started watching last week! And we have been enjoying this show on SCI-FI channel so much that I thought to mention about it :) Basically, this is a reality tv show to see who has what it takes to be a true superhero done by legendary comic-book creator Stan Lee!! What a fun, brilliant idea for a reality show! That's right! There are superheroes with costumes, super-powers, and gadgets, and there are different tasks to be tested on the show! And, the best part of this show is... it's very serious! They are not joking!
So far, they've done 2 different challenges/tasks each week, and usually 1 contestant is eliminated at the end of every episode. Last night, they eliminated "CELL PHONE GIRL" and "THE ENFORCER". THE ENFORCER was the tough guy that didn’t have any true superhero spirit. We kept wondering why he was on the show to begin with. Anyway, at the end of the show last night, a tv inside a pile of trash on the street came on (it was not expected at all, so that was cool) while THE ENFORCER was walking away. There was Stan Lee(!) and he decided to hire THE ENFORCER as a super-villain and keep him on the show to antagonize the other remaining superheroes. Pretty cool turn around and scripting :) Anyway, we are really looking forward to see how this show develops!

I'm sorry that I don't have cable. shucks! But did you ever hear that segment on NPR's This American Life, where this girl talks about being a teenager and wanting to grow to be a SuperHero. She had this notebook of all the things she needed to learn to do in order to be a SuperHero... like learn to fly a helicopter, jump out a plane, hold her breath for 3 minutes while swimming underwater, shoot a crossbow, ride an elephant, etc. Crazy stuff! She ended up doing all of it AND getting her doctorate degree in something by the time she was 21!!!You should try to find the segment on KCRW's site/iTunes and download it! Really amazing!
