The greatest sushi place to go when your wallet is tight!!
We had planned to go out for sushi when Karen is back in town. All of us love sushi, and we are pretty spoiled with eye popping mouth melting wonderful sushi at other sushi restaurants (like Hiko Sushi... Sasabune...). So, we are somewhat snobby and tough to please.

This time, we were trying to look for a good sushi place, but not as expensive as our previous visits. So, I started researching online and found few places that caught my attention. This place "HIDE SUHI" had really good reviews on yelp (almost 5 stars), 9.5 rating (out of 10) on Citysearch, but had horrible reviews on Chowhound. So, I was kind of concerned about how our sushi experience would turn out to be.
We got there around 7 pm, and we were seated pretty quickly. I checked all the fish inside their showcase window and asked what's the best fish today. The sushi chef said "Everything is fresh and good!" without really giving the thought. Well... that's not usually a good sign when seeking for high quality sushi, but all of the reviews I've read helped me prepare what type of sushi bar this place is... So, it didn't surprise me at all, but I had to test :D Anyway, we started ordering ;-)
We ordered yellowtail , salmon, saba, tuna, toro, anago, albacore, halibut, spicy tuna roll (I asked to add Shiso leaf, and this was excellent), scallop roll, and customized ume handroll. None of them were extremely outstanding mouth melting pieces compare to some of the high-end sushi places, but there were definitely some hits. All of them were definitely good, and I can comfortably say that they were a lot better than some of the regular American sushi places I've gone before. And HIDE SUSHI are flexible to customize sushi however the way we wanted, so that was a big plus!
Now real test for this place...
Since I've read that this place is very inexpensive considering what type of sushi they serve... We were so anxious to see how much our bill would come up to be... since that would determine what we think of this place.. Hehehehe
The total bill between 4 adults came up to be only $99.91!!! And we were stuffed!
That is less than what we normally pay for 2 adults!! Wow... We were all amazed and couldn't believe our bill! For $30 per person, we had good sushi and fun friendly service! What a great place!! We'll be going back there for sure :)
