Broccoli originally came from Italy. Broccolo (in Italian) means "cabbage sprout." It is a plant of the cabbage family, and is closely related to cauliflower.
There are so many beneficial factors for eating broccoli. It is amazing!! Broccoli contains twice as much Vitamin C than lemons and 7 times more than potatoes! Also, it is full of carotene, vitamin B2, calcium, and dietary fiber (etc...), so you can imagine how it will help with your health and diet :)
Enjoy cooked or raw broccoli since they will be in season soon!
A little hint I found about raw vs. cooked broccoli (WHFoods | Raw vs. Cooked)
After reading some articles on a few websites, I think eating cooked (best steamed or lightly stir-fried) is better than eating raw broccoli since it significantly improves the digestibility and may double the carotenoid bioavailability.
