There are about 12 different types of traditional Japanese green tea. Each kind is made from different parts of green tea leaves, and they are all processed differently. The flavor and nutritious contents are also different for each type of green tea. However, Maccha has the most L-Theanine, Vitamin A, and Caffeine compared to all the other green teas. It is the most powerful, the king of green tea family, and a wonderful drink to start your morning :)
Maccha is fine powdered green tea used in Japanese tea ceremony called "Sado". Maccha has always been my favorite green tea... There is something relaxing and soothing about preparing and drinking Maccha.
When I prepare my Maccha in the morning, I don't follow all the traditional rituals. I just bring out my special tea bowl, warm the cup with hot water once. Then put some powder in my tea bowl and start whisking with my bamboo chasen until it's nice and foamy. It only takes about 5 min... but my mind is more relaxed and content after drinking and preparing Maccha.
I highly recommend it :)

Sally, do you know a place online where I can order some macha powder tea? I need your authentic recommendation. Now if only I could find my bamboo chasen among all my boxes...

I don't really know places to buy Maccha online. But, I found some links!! (Most places on English websites seem over priced though...)
• ITOEN
• HIBIKI-AN
There are many companies, so it's hard to say which one is the best, but the brighter khaki green color powder is better. Try to avoid lighter green Maccha!

Hello Ikko :)
I got Furoshiki (the purple fabric) from our friend Akko. Also my tea bowl was made by Akko's father!
