The Arcade at Redondo Beach Pier is awesome (in a weird freaky way).
As soon as I walk in, I feel like I'm stepping into a different time zone. All the old vintage looking rides and games are just unbelievable to check out.
I'm pretty sure you could find a lot of the games you used to play back in the day. (I don't really know know about these things very much since I didn't grow up here... but this place makes me think of an arcade I have seen in classic American films.)
Also, I don't really know where they find all the prizes they give away... but they are probably giving away the same stuff since the 80s. One of the prizes I got from them was this ridiculous looking huge plastic ribbon hairpin that you probably won't be able to find at any regular stores... I haven't seen those things in ages!
There is a definite interesting energy here. Even though this place is usually pretty empty every time I've gone... it sometimes feels as though I am seeing this place packed with a ton of people and entertaining many kids and families.
I love going here. To me, it is a great place to go get inspired and take pictures :)
Plus there is this awesome crab place on the pier! I need to blog about that crab restaurant some other time!!

The last I checked, the Redondo Fun Factory even had a vintage coin-operated PONG game. Unbelievable. This place has stayed relatively the same since I was a kid in the 70s. I do recall an elaborate permanent slot car track set-up back in the day though. But that has been gone since the late 70s. And, I'm glad it's still thriving at Redondo Beach's King Harbor complex. Post more pics if you have any. VERY COOL STUFF! :)
