I received a phone call from my good friend in Tokyo about a restaurant we used to go in Hiroshima... :) And that got me thinking about "Cha Cha Hana".
When we were all working in Hiroshima for a project, we found a very cool restaurant called "Cha Cha San: LOTUS", and I was very much impressed with the whole ambiance, architectural design, and lighting fixture devices. Everything was well thought out and coordinated - from the front entrance walk way till you are seated at your table. It lures you into the restaurant. The food was excellent as well :)
Anyway... when I got back to Tokyo, I went to try "Cha Cha Hana" in Shinjuku, Tokyo since I discovered it was produced by the same company. Compare to Cha Cha San: Lotus, Cha Cha Hana is very hidden, quiet, and hard to find even if you have a map in your hand. (Don't we all like finding hidden special treasures??) It definitely has it's own original unique presence and worth the search!
Cha Cha Hana is a Modern Japanese (Kyoto style) restaurant, and they have their own special menu. (non of the franchise restaurant crap) The restaurant is well hidden inside the grove from the small pathway called "Shiki No Michi" behind the busy electronic Kabuki-Cho district. Once you find the dim lit sign on the pathway, follow the stone steps, and you will find the restaurant. It feels like a totally different world.
They renovated the house that was built in Showa-era and kept most of the original elements and structure by applying a modern twist. The design compliments and appreciates Japanese beauty and tradition.
The portion of each dishes are pretty small, but everything they serve is beautiful and tasty :) A wonderful place to enjoy and spend quality time with a variety of different dishes with good sake. Highly recommended!
