The Parrots rocks!!
Just the other day, we heard about The Parrots on NPR on the way to work. The parrots is the Beatles tribute band in Japan, and we thought it would be fun to check them out while we were in Japan.
The group plays at a small live house called Abbey Road in Roppongi, Tokyo. They usually play 4 shows during the week, and 5 shows on Friday and Saturday (from 7:20pm till past midnight). It costs about $20 cover fee, and you also have to order some food and drinks there... But, it was worth it!! (We even bought their CD)
We honestly didn't know how much we would enjoy the show. We were thinking it's going to be somewhat cheesy but fun. No, it was way cooler than what we have ever imagined! All the band members are Japanese who don't speak much English. But they sing with very "convincing Liverpudlian Scouse accent" and everything was spot on. Our reaction was like "Wow!!!" "Amazing"... Paul had goosebumps on his arms, and he even said he almost had tears in his eyes when they played the song he requested "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"! That is my favorite song now.
Paul requested 3 songs total, and 1 song by my sister. They played them all!!
Each singer was just amazing...
During the each show, they announced and sang a birthday song for each parson. And they even served birthday cakes with little fireworks. Very nice :)
The food here was pretty good as well.
I don't remember everything we ordered, but I liked their Peperoncino Pasta and Fried Gobo (burdock). We wish they had wider selection of beer though. They only served Coors, Coors Light, and Grolsch. But, we'll be going back there again and again for sure :D
