We went to see Chapter 27 out of curiosity... and we knew that the actor Jared Leto was going to be present at the NUART theater over this weekend.
The movie is about a guy, Mark David Chapman and the three day period that led up to the horrible crime of John Lennon's assassination at his home in NYC. The movie is intended to be a deep exploration of Chapman's psyche without putting substantial emphasis on the murder.
Everyone wants some type of conclusion or an answer from this horrible sad incident... and J. P. Schaefer (director and screenwriter of this film) explained that he was obsessed with looking for an answer and trying to understand the whole thing, and he ended up realizing that there is no answer for what happened.
Jared Leto looked really good at the theater yesterday... shocking to realize how much weight he had to gain for this role! He looked like a completely different person.
Do I recommend this movie? Hmmm... maybe, maybe not.
This is the type of movie that doesn't necessary need to be seen by everyone. If you are looking for an answer or some type of conclusion, you will not get it from this movie. This movie does give you a better idea of what might have taken place in Mark David Chapman's selfish mind...
