One of my favorite restaurants in LA.
AXE, pronounced "a-shay" is a minimalist restaurant on Abbot Kinney, CA. Their interior is designed with sustainable woods, and their menu offers fresh seasonal ingredients with mostly local and organic sources.

We took our friend Yosh from Tokyo there the other night. He writes for different magazines in Japan that relates with sustainable businesses around the world, and that is why we chose this place :) He was very delighted and happy to be dining at Axe :)
I ordered white fish with basil pesto from their special menu. The fish had very weird name... sounded Hawaiian or Indian started from B... something... Anyhow, it was very moist and basil pesto had very good flavor. The root vegetable on the side (served underneath of my fish) was my favorite. The vegetables were lightly salted and roasted and had very good texture. Paul ordered half roasted free range chicken with herb marination and butternut squash on the side. Yosh wanted to eat light since he had a big lunch that day, so he just ordered heirloom tomato salad and root vegetables. We kind of all shared everything :) Food here always taste very fresh, light, and very cleansing.

Some photos from other times I've dined at Axe above. Their "Spicy Chicken Soup" is absolutely my favorite!! It makes me hungry just by thinking about the flavor.

As you can see, the interior of the restaurant is very simple, clean, and modern. It is a good reflection of the kind of food they serve here.
I highly recommend this place :)
