Hip Japanese Maid Cafe in Culver City.
I love their space, atmosphere, and the idea of the cafe. They transformed Japanese Maid Cafe from Nerd Otaku Culture into a hip urban Japanese cafe. It isn't a true "Maid Cafe" style you would find in Japan... Only thing that says "Maid Cafe" is the waitresses wearing maid costume :) Well, I like it this way better.
A friend of mine, Jen sent me a link to the Vitamin after coming back shopping from Abbott Kinney, CA the other day. She saw their Urban Gnomes all displayed in the store... and thought that I would love them :) They're indeed very cool!

Once you sign in, you get a blank canvas (vintage rice paper feel), 23 colored pencils (thin to thick), eraser, and white out. We saw this cool looking magazine basket (pic left) in Dwell Magazine. Ahhh... looks so nice! You can place the current magazine you're reading on top, and keep other ones inside the basket. It is designed by industrial/Architectural designer Enzo Berti. The chairs on the right are designed by him as well. Beautiful work.

Recent purchase from Costco for $51.99 "Planet Earth: The Complete Series". The set comes with 5 discs and features 10 minute behind the scenes footage at the end of each episode. Very powerful series. Once you sign up and download/install the software, last.fm starts synchronizing with your iTunes, Windows Media Player, Skype... and more!
The cool thing about it is that each user has their own "radio station" and stores the music you played on iTunes (and other music applications). So, you can basically enjoy listening to other people's music recommendations and end up discovering more artists you might like.

I love this world!!
What an incredible and beautiful idea for a wall space!! No floor space needed to enjoy lots of greenery, and this wall system self waters and also fertilizes itself. How? Fafi - The Female French Graffiti Artist
I first became aware of Fafi when she released Artist Gacha-Gacha capsule toy series in Japan along with some other artists around the world back in 2003. At first, I didn't like her figures that much (I liked her drawing/painting style though)... but her figures started to grow on me every time I saw them. I was reading this guys blog this morning, and he wrote that he had to move the figures off his desk because they kept flirting with him!! I was laughing so hard!! But, I think fafi's figures seriously had the same effect on me!!

A beautiful photograph speaks it's own mind...
I've always liked Hozuki (aka: Chinese Lantern). It's my favorite plant for the fall. Hozuki plants are usually green before the summer starts, and they turn into a bright reddish orange by mid-July. At the end of their season, the outer shell (leaf) dries up, and creates almost a heart-like shape cocoon which protects a red cherry that beams through the dried shell waiting for next season. It's almost like a love story...

What a cute vegetable monster (pet)!! There are 3 different pets available at BRANCH!! The picture above is the TOMATO, and there is MELON & PUMPKIN as well. What I love about this product/toy is... you can not only appreciate playing with this cute monster, but also plant her/him into dirt when you are ready to say goodbye!!! What an innovative but simple concept for a website!! And it's a fun and creative way to interact with other people and share your palettes. I am definitely a fan of COLOURlovers!! and it's very addictive as well!

Ohhhh my gosh!! I love OTSUKA SEIYAKU's FIBE-MINI campaign! A friend of mine let me know about this today... I absolutely fell in love with all the monsters!! My favorites are "DARU DARU" and "KASA CASA". But, all of them are super cute! And each monster has it's own theme song and background story... how funny is that! You can also fight with each monster and download a screen saver when you win! (...right, I've done that...hahaha) Anyway!

Oh my gosh... Where have I been? I love their clothes!!
I took my friend for shopping at Beverly Center the other day, and we came across CUSTO BARCELONA. I couldn't stop thinking about it, so here I am :) Each item was uniquely crafted, and all of their clothes have a 70s and early 80s feel with a modern twist. Very inspiring with funky designs and some Asian influence as well. :)
Their store also reminded me of FORNARINA which is another retail store I love and admire!!

Either way, I was so inspired with this new form of art/fashion with USB. I read an article about this in WIRED magazine (JUNE 2006) just the other night. New way to have storage devices in everyday objects (more photos)! ...so many possibilities with this :) Showing motion graphics inside the USB frame would be pretty cool way to present art work.
So far, I'm not sold on the design of the USB belt and bra just yet.. but if a company like mimobots which I introduced the other day came up with funky USB belt... Hmmm... That would be super cool!
